When did it become thursday?
New link for pictures. New pictures. New pictures script. (Thank you Mike) The script is a little buggy. I’ll fix what I can he’ll do it better later.

Oakland sucks – Think “Cleaveland rocks” but sucking not rocking

TGI Fridays delivers quite a dining experiance.

(on our way in)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp “Would you like to be seated by a TV or elsewhere?”

(on the menu)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Cheeseburger

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Chargrilled with two slices of melted American Cheese. $6.99

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp With out cheese. $6.79

(while we wait)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp A balloon artist is walking around to tables with little kids and single (or
alone) mothers. He keeps his
package of balloons in front of his “package” and puts on his show for the mothers more then the little kids.
Flirts with the mothers. Forgetting about the kids he makes hearts and remembers the kids and makes them little

(while we eat)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Everyone but Nick gets their food. He gets somebody else’s. He gets somebody
else’s again. Again. Nick
ordered a “Chicken Fingers” he got Chicken Fajaitas, JD Chicken, and a Chicken Ceaser Salad. Confused the
“servers” (not the person who we ordered from) look oddly at us and look timidly around for the proper owners of
the food. He finally gets his Chicken Fingers.

(After we finish)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp The bill totals to over $100 much more then we ordered. The receipt isn’t
itemized. Just the total. About
half an hour later we find out that Nick was the rightful owner of the Chicken Fajaitas, JD Chicken and the
Chicken Ceacer Salad, along with his chicken strips. And my dad’s mineral water was in fact really just tap water
with ice. The actual bill, no extra charges and a small tip later we left.

I’m not sure if I just hate Oakland or just TGI Fridays. Either way they both suck.

I’m here at Starbucks paying for internet service. I threw the
payment plans into excel and make a nice little spreadsheet to work out which
plan is cheaper. If you have to use it go for the prepay plans you might
get left with a few extra minutes (don’t worry they become void in 23
days) but you’ll probably be left wanting more. 20$ for 120 minutes or
50$ for 300. Either way its about $0.16 ($0.166666666666…) per minute.
Cheaper then the “net cafe” in San Francisco (but you need your own
computer – I don’t mind I have my own computer)

I’ve organized my photos for the new script (wouldn’t work for
the old one – and I’d like to drop the “Okaton” script – the new one
looks so much nicer anyway and will help those with lower resolutions
too) I had them all in one “Unsorted” folder and now I have them in a
whole bunch of folders with cute names attached. I’ll be able to write
descriptions too but I don’t want to right now.

BTHSnews.org is down. Along with the rest of Stuyvesent’s
network. (BTHSnews gets its hosting free from them. Petra’s connection is
doing fine and hasn’t had problems since it got fixed. Which is the way
it *should* always be.

I’m thinking of actually turning Roborooter Networks into a real
business where Petra would get a real Connection by co-locating her
somewhere. I have no illusions about the generosity of Co-locating
services they have this thing about wanting money; I have a thing about
wanting money too. If Roborooter Networks made money (presumably using
Petra) then I could co-locate petra (even though she is a tower – and
quite a big one – co-locations tend to like rack mounts but I could
always move her into one. Computer companies have a thing about wanting
money too – I wouldn’t mind investing in Roborooter Networks but I’d need
to make sure I got returns from it.

This is all good idle banter but idle banter rarely turns in to
results. I’ve made plenty of idle banter about many things. From building
robots with my spare parts to clean up my work area to building a gauss
rifle (which could easily happen but I can only see it being misused and
I want to make it through college at lease before I have a record, and
I’m sure it isn’t as easy as it seams and I’d waste a heck of a lot of
time on it because its pretty cool.).

But since this idle banter involves bringing me a positive cash
flow that isn’t flowing from me I’m a little biased towards it. Hell I
want to add Pay Pal buttons on the left to donate to the “Get through
college – give a buck/quarter/dime/nickel” This would include first off
me. If emily or mike want to they can get thier own pay pal accounts and
do it too. Actually Amazon.com has a system for making donations and they
don’t hold on to your money nor can they take it away – they just get the
exposer that they are the ones making the donation possible and they
might throw a “hey you! buy this book!” in too. Pay Pal is not a bank.
They can take away your money and they can freeze your accounts with out
warning or ever returning them. Evil.

Amazon wish lists are always good… even Think Geek Wish lists
too… Even though I have a problem with them because you always forget
what’s on them and then by the time you ever recieve anything on them its
outdated and you don’t realy want the stuff anymore. And putting time
into maintaining one is vein and dumb. Go read a book from the library
while sitting in the park you materialistic swine! God knows you look

This has been allowed to go on for too long. Hope everyone is
doing well.

Script Fix for Standards Compliant Code

I’ve been editing again (not just the content but the text file formatting) as you may have noticed, and again, if you have any complaints, you know what to do.

As soon as I have time (which means not any time soon), I will patch Mike’s news script and some of my own HTML code to make the HTML on this site (1) more logical, and (2) standards compliant. My hope is that I’ll be able to reduce the amount of HTML code that’s in the text file and change the style in a small way as well. If you have any objections, email me.

Hope you’re savoring the last sweet days of summer!

mecha, soon to be a college student

At the Net Cafe (and again)

Tomorrow I leave San Francisco, and I don’t know when I’ll be back on the net.

I’m taking down music.roborooter.com. I’m sure those who knew it was there won’t care. Those who didn’t know can go to http://www.frontalot.com/. It was just his music.

I put up a few new pictures (not all from this trip though). I’ll have the complete collection (which isn’t finished yet) up when I get back. Talk to you all later.

At the Net Cafe (again)

The guy here (Nick and I are the only other people) just turned on his “Underground Dance” music channel. =p

I’m liking these Cable cars. I just uploaded some pictures from Armstrong Woods. It has trees there over 1500 years old. On a side note, that remixed Elvis song (A Little Less Conversation) just started playing. More later.

At a “Net Cafe”

I walked about 25 blocks through China Town here in Sanfrancisco and found only one network (wifi) and it had WEP and Cisco’s thingy (I forgot its name) so that wasn’t an option. =(

So I’m at a “net cafe” with “underground” dance music. It’s acutally pretty cool with a nice view of they bay. I’m killing their bandwith by uploading all my pictures (dumped in the “California” folder until I get back). When I get back, I ‘ll organize them into subalbums with Mike’s new upcoming script (hehe new picures script).

I’m having fun here. It’s good but I miss home and the people I left behind. I’m thinking about you guys.

I just realized that I’m uploading repeats too, live with with them until I organize them later sorry about that. Drop me a line if you want sometime soon – I’ll find a wifi eventualy to send my mail through (ssl of course =D)

I just got told that I have to leave the cafe so whatever got there got there. Sorry guys. Stay well.

I’m off to California

If you’re one of the unlucky few to have seen me recently, I’m sorry. If you haven’t then don’t worry you probably won’t. In a couple of hours I’ll be flying to California (I’ll take pictures) and then I have 3 days when I get back and I’m off to college. Hope all our readers are doing well.

Yikes… Setting up libc6 (2.2.5-6) …

I just upgraded Petra to the latest release of libc6 and it broke apache. =0

So I popped into #debian to see if I could get some help. After getting yelled at for not
reading the topic I finally got this after I suggest a simple configuration fix (which doesn’t work).

peej: wizard_2 (sheesh, the lameness): either you use dpkg specifically on a downloaded non-latest
package (man dpkg) or you tweak your sources list.

*Cou(bitch)gh* just the kind of support and help everybody needs. Tweaking the source list to the “testing”
packages doesn’t work because apt doesn’t want to downgrade packages. You can’t remove libc6 because… well 318
other packages need it. I even got this message when I tried. (hoping I could just remove it)

You are about to do something potentially harmful!
To continue type in the phrase 'Yes, do as I say!'

Not what I had in mind… anyway I ended up downloading the .debs from “testing” and using dpkg to install them. It didn’t care about over writing the currently installed version.

apachectl start
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd started

Success! And now you see what you see here. I think I’ll keep the debs around in case apt decides to upgrade them before the bug is fixed.
